Sta-Kon A481M UNINS RECTANG RING TERM 22-18 TAPE

The A481M crimps onto 22 to 18 AWG stranded copper conductor. If you're terminating 16 AWG or larger, this barrel won't close down on it properly and you need a terminal in the next gauge band up.

It's a non-insulated terminal, bare copper with no sleeve. You insulate it yourself after crimping, with heat shrink tubing or electrical tape, anywhere the lug or barrel could contact a grounded surface or an adjacent terminal.

A rectangular ring terminal has a closed tongue like a standard ring, so the screw cannot back out of the connection, but the tongue is squared off rather than round. That squared body sits better on narrow terminal blocks and in tight panel spaces where a round tongue would overhang or spin. Use a fork (spade) terminal only where you need to slip the wire off without removing the screw; for anything subject to vibration, the closed ring is the safer termination.
