Viega ProPressG tee - 16263

The 16263 ProPressG tee is a full 1 inch by 1 inch by 1 inch, so the run and the branch are all the same size. It is a straight tee, not a reducer, which means you can press 1 inch copper on all three openings without an adapter or bushing.

All three openings are press. The connection type is P1 x P2 x P3, meaning press on the run in, press on the run out, and press on the branch. There is no threaded or solder end on this fitting, so a press tool with the correct 1 inch jaw is needed to make every joint.

Copper. The 16263 is a copper-body ProPressG tee, so it belongs in a copper tubing system and gets pressed onto copper tube. ProPressG fittings carry the yellow sealing element that identifies the gas line, so the fitting should be kept in gas service rather than mixed onto potable water runs where standard ProPress copper fittings are used.

Both. The 16263 tee is rated for commercial and residential applications, so it works the same on a multi-family or light commercial gas riser as it does on a house. For an MRO or facilities buyer standardizing on press, that means one part number covers both sides of the portfolio.

For a 1 inch copper branch, the 16263 press tee makes all three joints cold, with no flame, no purge gas, and no hot work permit. That is the reason it gets chosen in occupied buildings, ceilings, and tenant spaces where an open flame is a problem. The tradeoff is the tool: you need a press tool with a 1 inch jaw on site before any of the three press connections can be made.

Made in Germany. That matters on spec-driven and government jobs where country of origin has to be documented in the submittal package, so it can be stated on paper up front rather than chased after delivery.
