Von Duprin 090798 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Von Duprin 090798 slider actually do inside a 6200 Series electric strike?
The 090798 is the fail secure slider, the internal component that sets how the strike behaves on power loss. With it installed in a 6200 Series strike, the strike is electrically unlocked: it stays locked when power drops and releases only when energized. It is a genuine Von Duprin replacement part for the 6100/6200 Series platform, so it restores the strike's original fail secure operation rather than changing the strike model.
2) Will the 090798 slider give me fail secure operation on a 6211WF or 6221 strike?
No. On the 6211WF, 6212WF, 6221 and 6223 units the 090798 works as a fail safe component, not fail secure. Those four models are the exception across the 6200 Series. If your opening needs the door to stay locked during a power failure and you have one of those strikes, this slider will do the opposite.
3) Can I change a 6200 Series electric strike from fail safe to fail secure without replacing the whole strike?
Yes, on the 6200 Series strikes the slider is the part that determines the mode, and the 090798 is the fail secure (electrically unlocked) version. Swapping it in restores or establishes fail secure operation on the installed strike. The exceptions are the 6211WF, 6212WF, 6221 and 6223, where this same slider behaves as fail safe.
4) Does the 090798 slider fit Von Duprin 6100 Series strikes as well as the 6200?
The 090798 is built for the 6100/6200 Series electric strike platform, and it is specified for use with the 6200 Series strikes apart from the 6211WF, 6212WF, 6221 and 6223. Match the slider to the strike model stamped on your unit before ordering.
5) Is this a genuine Von Duprin part or an aftermarket slider?
It is a genuine Von Duprin replacement component, purpose-built for the 6100/6200 Series electric strikes. That matters on access control openings where a substituted internal part can compromise the strike's listed performance: the 6100/6200 Series carries a UL1034 listing, and using the factory slider keeps the assembly as built.
6) If I'm standardizing electric strikes across a building, what do I need to know before stocking the 090798?
Stock it against your strike model list, not by the door. Every 6200 Series strike in the building except the 6211WF, 6212WF, 6221 and 6223 takes the 090798 as its fail secure slider; on those four it inverts to fail safe. So a single spare part number covers most of the fleet, but any door required to unlock on power loss (or the reverse) needs its strike model checked first.
7) Is the 090798 slider suitable for a high-traffic commercial entry, or is it light-duty?
It is a commercial-grade part. The 6100/6200 Series platform it belongs to uses stainless steel construction built to take abuse in high-demand commercial applications, which is why these strikes turn up on office entries, healthcare and school controlled-access doors, government buildings and multi-tenant residential lobbies.
