Von Duprin 900771 US4 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the Von Duprin 900771 screw package?
The 900771 is the bottom stud screw package for Von Duprin 880 Series exit devices, a genuine manufacturer replacement fastener set rather than a whole device. It supplies the bottom stud fastening hardware that secures the device assembly, so a worn or missing stud screw can be corrected without pulling the exit device off the door.
2) What finishes does the Von Duprin 900771 bottom stud screw package come in?
Two: 630 satin stainless steel and 606 satin brass. Match the screw package to the finish already on the device so the exposed fastener heads don't stand out against the touchbar and end cap.
3) Is this screw package good enough for a high-traffic school or hospital exit door?
It is rated heavy duty and specified for commercial use, which covers the traffic you see on school, healthcare, office, retail and government egress doors. Since it is genuine Von Duprin hardware made to the original 880 Series specification, the repaired device keeps the same fastening as built.
4) Can I fix a loose 880 Series exit device bottom stud without replacing the whole device?
That's the point of the 900771. It carries the bottom stud screw components needed to re-secure the assembly, so maintenance staff can restore function in place instead of buying and re-prepping a complete exit device.
5) Is the Von Duprin 900771 a complete exit device or just hardware?
Just the fastening hardware. It is a parts-and-accessories item for 880 Series exit devices and includes no touchbar, rail, latch or trim. If you are replacing a damaged device rather than repairing one, order the complete 880 Series device and use this only for stud screw repair.
