Von Duprin 970272 US4 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly is the Von Duprin 970272?
It's a replacement faceplate for Von Duprin electric strike assemblies, not a complete strike. You get the plate that covers the strike body in the frame, so if your strike still works electrically but the faceplate is bent, scratched or drilled wrong, this is the piece that restores it. If the keeper or solenoid has failed, you need a full strike instead.
2) What finishes does the Von Duprin 970272 electric strike faceplate come in?
Five: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 629 bright stainless steel, and 630 satin stainless steel. Match the number already stamped on your existing hardware, 630 satin stainless is the usual commercial default and what most Von Duprin strikes ship with.
3) Is the 970272 a genuine Von Duprin part or an aftermarket copy?
OEM. The 970272 is a genuine Von Duprin replacement component, which is what keeps the mounting hole pattern and profile identical to the plate you're taking off. Aftermarket faceplates are where frame prep mismatches come from.
4) Can I use the 970272 faceplate on residential doors?
It's built and rated as a commercial part, intended for Von Duprin electric strike hardware in office buildings, schools, healthcare, retail, industrial, multi-tenant residential and government facilities. Nothing stops it working in a home, but it only fits where a compatible Von Duprin electric strike is already installed.
5) I'm standardizing electric strike parts across a portfolio of buildings. Does ordering one 970272 per door make sense?
For facilities with Von Duprin electric strikes, yes, keeping 970272 faceplates on the shelf is a normal MRO stocking move: the faceplate is the part that takes abuse from carts, keys and forced entry attempts while the strike body survives. Order in the finish that matches each building's hardware so a spare drops straight in without a cosmetic mismatch on the frame.
