Von Duprin 970302 US10 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Von Duprin 970302 part?
The 970302 is a replacement electric strike faceplate from Von Duprin, sold as a service part rather than a complete strike. It is the mounting plate that covers the strike body in the frame, so you order it when the original faceplate is damaged, mismatched in finish, or being refreshed during a repair. The strike body, solenoid and wiring are not part of it.
2) Does the 970302 come with the electric strike, wiring or mounting screws?
No. What you get is the faceplate itself. The strike body, solenoid, keeper and any wiring stay with your existing assembly, so plan the job around reusing the installed strike. If the strike mechanism itself has failed, a faceplate will not fix it.
3) What finishes does the Von Duprin 970302 electric strike faceplate come in?
Four brass-tone finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, and 613 oil rubbed bronze. If you are matching other hardware on the opening, pick by the BHMA number rather than the name, since 605 and 606 read very differently side by side.
4) Is the 970302 faceplate a genuine Von Duprin part or an aftermarket copy?
It is a genuine Von Duprin component from the manufacturer's own electric strike parts line, which is what keeps the hole pattern and cutout true to the original strike assembly. That matters on a faceplate more than most parts, because an aftermarket plate that is off by a fraction will not sit flat in the existing frame prep.
5) Can I use the 970302 faceplate to change the finish on an existing Von Duprin electric strike without replacing the whole unit?
Yes, that is one of the normal reasons to buy it. Since the 970302 is the faceplate only, swapping it in one of the four offered finishes updates the visible plate while the strike body stays in the frame. Useful for a property manager standardizing appearance across a set of openings after a partial hardware change.
6) Is the Von Duprin 970302 faceplate suitable for a residential door?
It is built for commercial door hardware, and it only makes sense on a Von Duprin electric strike already installed in a frame. In a house with a standard residential strike there is nothing for it to mount to. Typical use is offices, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential and government buildings.
