Von Duprin 971385 32D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Von Duprin 971385 faceplate fit?
The 971385 is a replacement electric strike faceplate for the Von Duprin 6216 electric strike in less inserts configurations. It is an OEM Von Duprin part matched to that strike, so it drops onto the 6216 body without modifying the strike. It is not a universal faceplate for other Von Duprin strike models.
2) Can I replace just the faceplate on a damaged 6216 electric strike instead of the whole unit?
That is what the 971385 is for. It restores the strike's face without pulling and replacing the entire 6216 unit, which keeps the existing wiring and frame prep in place. Useful on maintenance calls where the strike body still works but the face is bent, gouged, or pried.
3) What finishes does the Von Duprin 971385 electric strike faceplate come in?
Five: 630 satin stainless steel, 629 bright stainless steel, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 605 bright brass, and 606 satin brass. On a frame where the strike face is the only visible hardware, 630 is the usual commercial match; pick 613 or the brass finishes when you are matching existing decorative trim across a building.
4) Is the 971385 a genuine Von Duprin part or an aftermarket copy?
Genuine Von Duprin OEM. It is supplied as the factory replacement faceplate for the 6216, which matters on jobs where a specifier or facility standard requires OEM components on the strike.
5) What is the difference between a 6216 with inserts and the less inserts version this faceplate fits?
The 971385 is specified for the less inserts configuration of the 6216. Before ordering, confirm which build is in the frame, because the faceplate is matched to that configuration rather than being interchangeable across both.
6) Is this faceplate rated for commercial door traffic or is it a residential part?
Commercial. The 971385 is built to Von Duprin's commercial standards and is used in office buildings, schools, hospitals, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential, and government facilities. It is not a light-duty residential strike plate.
7) Will ordering the 971385 faceplate require refinishing or repainting the frame?
No frame work is involved. The faceplate mounts to the existing 6216 strike, so the frame cutout stays as it is. Match the finish code to the rest of the opening's hardware and the swap is cosmetic as well as functional.
