Von Duprin 970407 US4 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Von Duprin 970407 faceplate fit?
The 970407 is a replacement electric strike faceplate for the Von Duprin 6216 electric strike, specifically the large faceplate insert configuration. It is not a universal plate. If your 6216 is set up with a standard or smaller insert, this is the wrong part number for that opening.
2) Can I replace just the faceplate on a 6216 electric strike instead of the whole strike?
Yes. That is what the 970407 is for. It lets a maintenance tech swap the faceplate component on an existing 6216 assembly without pulling and replacing the entire electric strike, so the strike body and wiring stay in the frame.
3) What finishes does the Von Duprin 970407 electric strike faceplate come in?
Six finishes: 630 satin stainless steel, 629 bright stainless steel, 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, and 613 oil rubbed bronze. For a property manager matching existing openings, 630 satin stainless is the common commercial default; pick the code that matches the lever and exit device already on the door rather than guessing from a photo.
4) Is the 970407 a genuine Von Duprin part or an aftermarket copy?
It is a genuine Von Duprin OEM replacement component, built to the same standards as the original 6216 strike parts. For institutional specs that call for OEM-only replacement hardware, this satisfies that requirement.
5) Is the Von Duprin 970407 faceplate suitable for a school or hospital door?
It is a commercial-grade part, used in schools, healthcare facilities, office buildings, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential, and government buildings. It is not intended as residential-duty hardware.
