1) Do I need to order a cylinder separately for the Von Duprin 371L-12 trim?
Yes. The 371L-12 is prepped for a 1-1/4 inch mortise cylinder and the cylinder is not supplied. Order one separately in the keyway and keying you need so the trim can be keyed into your existing system.
2) Is the 371L-12 lever trim handed, and which hands are available?
It is handed. The 371L-12 comes in Left Hand Reverse and Right Hand Reverse only, which is what you would expect on an exit device opening since the door swings out. Determine the hand from the outside of the door before ordering; the wrong hand will not operate correctly.
3) I am replacing a broken lever trim on an existing Von Duprin 88 CVR device. Can I just swap the trim?
If the existing device is a 55 or 88 CVR and the original trim was a Classroom/NL lever trim, the 371L-12 is the matching replacement. Match the hand (LHR or RHR) and the finish to the rest of the opening, and reuse or supply a 1-1/4 inch mortise cylinder since one is not packed with the trim. The exit device itself stays on the door.

6) Does the 371L-12 include the exit device or the vertical rods?
No. It is trim only, the outside lever and escutcheon that mounts through the door to a 55 or 88 CVR exit device. The device, rods, latches and strikes are all separate. Buyers replacing a whole opening need to order the CVR device as well.
