1) Can the Scope reading light be hardwired, or is it plug-in only?
Both. The Scope ships with a 6 foot (72 inch) cord and plug, and WAC lists it for plug-in or hardwired installation. In a hotel or multi-family headboard where you don't want a visible cord, hardwire it; in a retrofit over an existing receptacle, plug it in and skip the electrician.
2) Does the Scope reading light need an external dimmer or wall control?
No separate dimmer is needed. A fingertip dimmer and touch on/off switch are recessed into the wall plate itself, so the fixture is controlled at the light. That also means you don't have to run a switch leg to it, which is why it works for headboard retrofits.
3) Can the Scope LED reading light go in a bathroom or a covered exterior walkway?
Yes, within limits. It carries a Damp location rating with IP44 and is listed for interior or covered exterior use, plus ETL and cETL. That covers a bathroom vanity wall or a covered porch or balcony. It is not a wet-location fixture, so keep it out of direct spray and uncovered exposure.
4) Does the WAC Scope reading light meet ADA requirements and California Title 24?
ADA compliant: yes, and it is Title 20 compliant. Title 24 compliance is listed as no, so for a California project where the space requires Title 24 qualified lighting, this fixture will not satisfy that line item. It also is not Energy Star rated.
