1) Can the WAC Action mini-pendant be hung on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The Action mini-pendant is built for ceiling mounting and WAC states it can be mounted on a slope ceiling. It hangs on thin powered aircraft cables, and the canopy uses push pin connectors so you set the drop at the length you want after the canopy is up. The round canopy measures 6.5 inches across, so check you have that much flat area on the slope before you drill.
2) Will this pendant run on 277V in a commercial building, or is it 120V only?
It takes 120V, 240V or 277V on the same universal-input driver, 50/60Hz, so the same pendant works on residential 120V circuits and on 277V commercial lighting branch circuits. The driver is concealed inside the canopy, so nothing hangs in the open and no remote driver location is needed. It is a hardwired fixture, not plug-in.
3) What kind of dimmer do I need for the WAC Action LED mini-pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. On an ELV control it dims smoothly from 100 percent down to 10 percent. A standard incandescent/forward-phase (TRIAC) wall box dimmer is not the right control for it, and a 0-10V or DALI system is not what this driver accepts. If you are grouping several on one dimmer, size the ELV dimmer against 7.2W per fixture.
4) Can I install this mini-pendant in a covered porch or over a bathtub area?
It is rated for damp locations and carries ETL, cETL and an IP44 rating, which makes it suitable for covered exterior spaces like a soffit or porch ceiling and for bath areas outside the direct spray zone. It is not a wet-location fixture, so do not use it anywhere exposed to direct rain or a shower stream.
5) How big is this mini-pendant, and how many would I need over a kitchen island?
The shade body is small: 2.38 inches in diameter and 8 inches in product height, with a 6.5 inch round canopy. At that size one pendant is an accent, not general lighting, which is why WAC shows them used alone or in pairs and multiples. Over a typical island, plan a row of three or more spaced on center rather than relying on one, since each puts out 7.2W of flood-distribution light.
6) What finishes does the WAC Action mini-pendant come in?
Two plated metal finishes, Aged Brass and Black, both in 3000K. The housing is spun aluminum with a white etched acrylic diffuser, so the glare control comes from the acrylic rather than from clear glass. If you are matching existing trim in a hospitality or multi-family corridor, those are the two choices to compare against.
7) Is this pendant ADA compliant or Energy Star rated?
Neither. The Action mini-pendant is not ADA compliant and is not Energy Star rated, which matters if you are specifying into a project with a protrusion limit in a corridor or an Energy Star rebate requirement. It does meet Title 20. For an ADA-restricted corridor, a flush or semi-flush ceiling fixture is the right direction instead of a hanging pendant.
8) Does this WAC pendant use a rod or a chain, and can I shorten the drop after it is installed?
Cable, not rod or chain. The Action pendant hangs on thin electrified aircraft cables that carry the power, so there is no separate visible power wire beside the support. Length changes are made at the canopy with push pin connectors, which means an installer can reset the height without rewiring the fixture.
