WAC Lighting WAC-PD-23852 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the WAC Loophole PD-23852 pendant be hung on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The Loophole pendant hangs from thin powered aircraft cables that adjust through push-pin connectors at the canopy, and WAC states it can be mounted on a slope ceiling. It is a ceiling-mounted, hardwired fixture, so you need a junction box at the mounting point.
2) How low can the Loophole LED pendant hang, and can it be shortened for a low ceiling?
Hanging height adjusts from a 9 inch minimum to a 120 inch maximum, with 120 inches of cable supplied. The cables adjust at the canopy through push-pin connectors, so you set the drop on site instead of ordering a length.
3) What dimmer do I need for the WAC Loophole PD-23852, and will a standard incandescent dimmer work?
It dims on an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer only. A standard forward-phase incandescent or TRIAC dimmer is not the specified control and can give you flicker or a dead bottom end. Spec an ELV dimmer rated for the load; the fixture draws 43.88W.
4) Will this WAC pendant run on 277V commercial power?
Yes. A universal voltage driver concealed in the canopy covers 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same fixture works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial lighting circuits without a separate transformer or a different part number.
5) Can the Loophole pendant go over a bathroom vanity or on a covered porch?
It is damp location rated, ETL and cETL listed, with an IP44 rating. That covers bathrooms, covered porches, and covered exterior entries. It is not rated for wet locations with direct rain exposure.
6) Does the WAC Loophole PD-23852 meet California Title 24?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, which is what California jobs ask for. It is not Energy Star certified and it is not ADA compliant, so do not use it where a project requires an ADA-compliant fixture.
7) How much light does the Loophole LED pendant put out, and what color is it?
4261 lumens at 3000K from a 43.88W integrated LED, with a flood distribution through a white composite diffuser. The center loop projects light in 360 degrees, so it works as both ambient and task light over an island or a table rather than as a tight downlight.
8) Can the LED be replaced in the Loophole pendant, or is the whole fixture disposable?
The LED is integrated, not a replaceable lamp, and it ships installed. Rated life is 50,000 hours, so for an MRO or property maintenance program there is no relamping schedule to plan; the fixture is replaced at end of life.
9) What size canopy does the WAC Loophole pendant have, and what size is the fixture itself?
The canopy backplate measures 11.63 by 4.63 inches, so it covers a standard round or rectangular ceiling box. The luminaire body is 52 inches long, 2.38 inches wide and 6.38 inches high, which is why it suits an island or a long dining table rather than a narrow entry.
10) What finishes does the WAC Loophole PD-23852 pendant come in?
Two: Brushed Aluminum (PD-23852-AL) and Black (PD-23852-BK). Both are the same 3000K color temperature, so if you are matching across several rooms the only decision is finish. The body is solid aluminum.
