1) Can the WAC Spectre WS-93120 vanity light mount vertically beside a mirror, or only horizontally above it?
Both. The 20 inch Spectre WS-93120 can be installed horizontally above a mirror or vertically alongside it, and it also supports up/down wall orientation. Because the light guide panel is transparent when off and luminous when on, the vertical orientation is a common choice on either side of a mirror. Overall it measures 20 inches wide by 3 inches high, so a pair flanking a mirror needs roughly 3 inches of clear wall each side.
2) Will the Spectre WS-93120 mount to the 4 inch round junction box already in my bathroom wall?
Yes. A conversion plate ships with the fixture to accommodate 4 inch junction boxes, and the slim design fits a pancake box as well. The backplate itself is 5 inches long, so it covers a standard box opening. It is hardwired, 120V AC with LED technology built in, so there is no separate driver or transformer to find room for in the box.
3) How do I set the color temperature on the WAC Spectre 3-CCT vanity light?
There is a switch inside the canopy, reachable during installation, that toggles between 2700K warm, 3000K warm white and 3500K white. It leaves the factory set at 3000K. Change it before you close the canopy up to the wall, because once mounted the switch is no longer accessible. For a multi-unit job this means one part number covers all three temperatures, so you can standardize stock and still match the color the designer picked per space.
4) What dimmer works with the WS-93120 Spectre LED vanity light?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer for smooth continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/magnetic low voltage dimmer is the wrong control for this fixture. It draws 17W at 120V, which is well under the minimum load some dimmers require, so check the dimmer's low-end load rating if you are running a single fixture on its own circuit.
5) Is the Spectre WS-93120 rated for use inside a shower or over a tub?
It carries a damp location rating with IP44 and is listed for indoor or covered outdoor use, so it suits general bathroom walls and covered exterior areas like a porch ceiling soffit. A damp rating is not a wet rating, so it is not the fixture for a direct-spray position inside a shower enclosure or an uncovered exterior wall. It is ETL and cETL listed.
6) Is the WAC Spectre WS-93120 bright enough to be the only light over a bathroom vanity?
The 20 inch Spectre puts out 1731 lumens from its integrated LED at 17W, with a flood distribution through a frosted acrylic diffuser for even light on the face rather than a hot spot. That is enough for a single-sink vanity in a small to mid-size bath. For a wider double vanity, two units or the 27 inch size is the better layout.
7) Does the Spectre vanity light meet California Title 24 for a bathroom remodel?
Yes, the WS-93120 is both Title 24 compliant and Title 20 listed, which is what California jobs ask for. It is not Energy Star rated, and it is not ADA compliant, so if your project requires ADA-compliant wall-mounted fixtures in a corridor or public restroom, specify something else.
