1) Can the WAC Trap 20 inch LED pendant be hung on a sloped or vaulted ceiling?
Yes. The 20 inch Trap LED pendant is cable hung from a ceiling canopy and is rated for sloped ceiling mounting. The backplate measures 8.44 inches, and the driver sits inside the canopy, so no remote driver location or separate junction box enclosure has to be found above the ceiling.
2) Will this pendant run on 277V commercial power?
It will. The Trap pendant accepts 120-277V, 50/60Hz input, so the same part number works on 120V residential circuits and on 277V lighting branch circuits in commercial buildings. Nothing changes between the two other than the supply.
3) What dimmer type do I need for the WAC Trap LED pendant?
Two control options. On ELV (electronic low voltage) dimming it runs 100 percent down to 10 percent. On a 0-10V control it goes 100 percent down to 5 percent. It will not dim correctly on a standard incandescent/TRIAC forward phase dimmer, so spec an ELV dimmer or a 0-10V driver circuit.
4) Can I use this pendant over a kitchen island, in a bathroom, or on a covered porch?
It is damp location rated and carries an IP44 rating, so it is suitable for indoor use and for covered exterior spaces like a porch ceiling or a soffit. Damp rating also covers bathrooms and steamy kitchens. Do not use it in a wet location exposed to direct rain or spray.
5) Does the WAC 20 inch Trap pendant meet California Title 24 and Title 20?
Yes on both. The Trap pendant is Title 24 compliant and Title 20 listed, which is what gets it through plan check on California projects. It is ETL and cETL listed for the US and Canada. It is not Energy Star certified and it is not ADA compliant, though ADA is a wall sconce projection issue and does not apply to a ceiling hung pendant.
6) Do I need to order bulbs for the Trap pendant, and what happens when the LED fails?
No lamps to buy. It is an integrated LED fixture with the light source built in and rated for 50,000 hours. There is no socket or replaceable lamp, so at end of life the fixture is replaced rather than relamped. Plan for that if you are standardizing a building on it.
7) How big is the 20 inch Trap pendant and what does the ceiling canopy cover?
The shade is 20 inches in diameter and 6 inches tall, a flat disc profile. The ceiling backplate is 8.44 inches across, so it will cover a standard 4 inch octagon or round box with room to spare.
8) What finishes does the 20 inch Trap LED pendant come in?
Two: Black, ordered as PD-95820-BK, and Chrome, ordered as PD-95820-CH. Both are aluminum bodied with the same white polycarbonate diffuser, so light output and optics are identical between them.
9) Is the Trap pendant hardwired or does it plug in?
Hardwired only. It mounts to a ceiling junction box and has no cord and plug, so an electrician is needed and a switched circuit has to be in place at the location.
