WAC Lighting PD-97145-AL – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the WAC Effervescent linear pendant be installed on a sloped or vaulted ceiling?
Yes. It is a ceiling-mount pendant that can be hung on a slope ceiling, because the two aircraft cables adjust independently to level the fixture. The canopy slides on with minimal hardware and the driver sits inside the canopy, so you do not need a separate remote driver location above the ceiling.
2) Will this pendant run on 277 volts for a commercial job?
Yes. The Effervescent LED pendant takes 120-240-277V, and the description lists 120/277V at 50/60Hz input, so it drops onto a 277V commercial lighting circuit without a transformer. One fixture draws 33W.
3) What dimmer type works with the WAC Effervescent pendant?
It dims on ELV, TRIAC, or 0-10V control, and the description gives a 100 to 10 percent range on both ELV and TRIAC. For a residential install a TRIAC (forward phase) wall dimmer is the simple choice; on a commercial job with a lighting control system, use the 0-10V input. Match the dimmer to one of those three protocols, not a standard incandescent-only switch leg.
4) Can I use this pendant in a covered porch or over a bathroom tub?
It carries a damp location rating and an IP44 rating, so it is suitable for indoor or covered outdoor spots, a covered porch, a breezeway, or a bathroom outside the direct shower spray. It is not rated for wet locations with direct rain or water contact.
5) What size junction box area does the Effervescent pendant canopy cover?
The canopy is a linear backplate 17 inches long, so it covers a standard round or octagonal ceiling box easily and spans a bit of patch work around it. The light bar itself runs 45 inches long and is only 3 inches wide and 3 inches tall, so the canopy is much shorter than the fixture body.
6) Does the WAC Effervescent pendant meet California Title 24 for a new build?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 20 and Title 24 compliant, which matters if you are specifying for a California project. It is also ETL and cETL listed for US and Canadian installs. It is not Energy Star rated and it is not ADA compliant, though ADA is a wall-projection concern and this is a ceiling-hung pendant.
7) Can the LED be replaced in the Effervescent pendant, or do I replace the whole fixture?
The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no lamp to change out and no socket base. The LED comes installed, rated at 50,000 hours average life at 3000K. For a property manager standardizing maintenance, treat it as a sealed fixture: at end of life the fixture gets swapped, not relamped.
8) What finishes does the Effervescent pendant come in, and does the cable color match?
Two finishes: Brushed Aluminum (PD-97145-AL) and Black (PD-97145-BK). The cable is matched to the finish from the factory, black aircraft cable with the BK finish and clear aircraft cable with the AL finish, so you do not specify cable color separately.
9) Does the WAC Effervescent pendant need a hardwired connection or can it plug in?
Hardwired only. It mounts to a ceiling box with the canopy and has no cord-and-plug option, so an electrician or a licensed trade needs to make up the connection. The driver is already inside the canopy, so there is no separate driver box to find space for.
