1) Can the 30 inch WAC Elementum vanity light be mounted vertically beside a mirror, or only horizontally above it?
Both. The 30 inch Elementum (WS-7230) can run horizontally above the mirror or vertically on either side of it, and WAC states the 22 inch and 30 inch versions are the ones approved for either orientation. Mounting is wall-mount with up/down capability, so the fixture reads correctly whichever way you turn it.
2) What junction box do I need for the WAC Elementum WS-7230, and does it need a separate LED driver?
No driver or transformer. It is 120V AC LED technology that wires straight to line voltage, and the 4.5 inch backplate fits on a standard pancake junction box. It is a hardwired fixture, so plan a box at the mounting point, not a cord drop.
3) Will this vanity light dim with the switches I already have in the building?
It dims only on an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer, which gives smooth continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/forward-phase or TRIAC dimmer is not the right control for it, so if your existing wall boxes have those, budget an ELV dimmer per circuit.
4) Can the Elementum WS-7230 be used in a shower, wet room, or covered exterior entry?
Yes. It carries a Wet location rating and is IP65, with ETL and cETL listings, and is rated for indoor or outdoor use. That covers steam-heavy bathrooms and shower zones as well as a covered porch or exterior wall, subject to your local inspector's placement rules.
5) Does this WAC Elementum fixture meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements for a multi-family or hotel bathroom?
It is listed ADA Compliant and meets both Title 20 and Title 24, which is what California jobs and most spec-driven multi-family work ask for. It is not Energy Star certified, so if your rebate program requires that specifically, this one will not qualify.
6) What color temperatures and finishes does the 30 inch Elementum come in, and how do I order the right one?
Three color temperatures, 2700K, 3000K and 3500K, each in Brushed Nickel or Chrome. The part number carries both: WS-7230-BN and WS-7230-CH are the 2700K pair, WS-7230-30-BN and WS-7230-30-CH are 3000K, and WS-7230-35-BN and WS-7230-35-CH are 3500K. For a warm residential-feeling bath go 2700K; 3500K reads cleaner and is the usual pick for commercial restrooms and grooming tasks.
7) Are the LEDs replaceable, and what service life should I plan for in a hotel or apartment turnover?
The LED is integrated, one light source, included and not a replaceable lamp. Average rated life is 80,000 hours, so there is no relamping cycle to schedule; when the engine eventually fails you replace the fixture. For MRO planning that is the tradeoff against a lamped vanity bar.
8) How much wall space do I need for the WAC WS-7230, and how far does it stick out?
Plan on 30 inches of run for the fixture body, with a height of 4.5 inches and a 4.5 inch backplate. Mounted vertically that 30 inches becomes your vertical dimension, so check the clearance between your mirror edge and the ceiling or backsplash before committing to side-mounting.
9) Can I get the Elementum in 277V for a commercial panel?
The standard WS-7230 is 120V. WAC offers 277V and 240V versions, plus custom color temperatures, as special order, so a commercial job on a 277V lighting circuit needs to be quoted that way rather than pulled from standard stock numbers.
10) Will this hold up in a high-humidity commercial restroom, and what is it actually made of?
Solid aluminum housing with opal mouth blown glass, and it is wet-rated at IP65. Aluminum plus a sealed enclosure is what makes it suitable for steam and washdown-adjacent environments where a painted steel vanity bar would eventually bloom rust at the seams.
