1) Can the WAC Elementum WS-7222 sconce be mounted vertically beside a mirror as well as horizontally above it?
Both orientations work on the 22 inch Elementum. WAC states the 22in and 30in versions may be mounted vertically or horizontally, so you can run a pair up either side of the mirror for shadow free task light or lay one across the top of it. The fixture is 22 inches wide with a 4.5 inch backplate, so a vertical pair needs 22 inches of clear wall height either side of the glass.
2) Is the Elementum LED sconce rated for a shower or a wet area?
Yes, it carries a Wet location rating and is listed for indoor or outdoor use, with an IP65 rating alongside ETL and cETL certification. That covers a shower enclosure, a tub surround, or an exterior wall under weather exposure, not just the dry wall above a vanity.
3) Does the WS-7222 Elementum need a remote driver or transformer, and what junction box does it land on?
No remote gear. It runs 120V AC LED technology with no driver or transformer required, and it mounts to a standard pancake junction box, which is what makes it workable on a finished wall where there is no depth behind the drywall. 277V, 240V, or custom color temperature builds are special order.
4) What dimmer works with the Elementum WAC sconce?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The sconce is ELV dimmable and WAC describes the result as smooth and continuous. A standard incandescent or MLV dimmer is the wrong control here and is the usual cause of flicker or a dead low end on this fixture.
5) Is the 22 inch Elementum sconce ADA compliant for a commercial restroom?
Yes, it is ADA compliant, and the geometry backs it up: the fixture projects within a 4.5 inch product height and sits on a 4.5 inch backplate, so it stays inside the protruding object allowance on a corridor or restroom wall. It is also Title 20 and Title 24 compliant for California work.
6) How much light does the 22 inch Elementum put out, and is one enough over a vanity?
2119 lumens from 26 watts, thrown as a flood distribution through opal mouth blown glass. That is enough for a single mirror when mounted horizontally above it. For grooming light on a larger mirror, two units mounted vertically at each side put the output at face height and kill the under-eye shadow a single overhead bar leaves.
7) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC Elementum sconce, or is the whole fixture disposable?
The LED is integrated, so there is no lamp to change and no socket to fail. It is rated 80,000 average hours, which is why WAC calls it maintenance free. For a property manager standardizing a building, that means no relamping cycle in the bath, but it also means service is a fixture swap rather than a bulb.
8) Is the Elementum WS-7222 hardwired or does it plug in?
Hardwired only. There is no cord or plug, so it needs a supplied 120V branch circuit landing in a pancake junction box at the mounting location. If you are adding one where no box exists, budget the wall opening and the box as part of the job.
9) What is the Elementum sconce actually made of, and will it hold up in a hotel bathroom?
