WAC Lighting WAC-PD-31735 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the WAC Illusion PD-31735 pendant be hung on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The Illusion PD-31735 mounts to a ceiling canopy and can be installed on a slope. Suspension is by three electrified cables, and the drop is set with push-pin connectors at the canopy, so you can level the ring on an angled surface.
2) How high a ceiling do I need for the 34.63 inch Illusion LED pendant, and how far can it drop?
The Illusion pendant adjusts from a 12 inch minimum hanging height to 100 inches maximum, with 120 inches of supplied wire. The ring itself is 34.63 inches across and only 1/2 inch thick, so the fixture adds almost no vertical bulk over a table or island.
3) What dimmer works with the WAC Illusion PD-31735 LED pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer or a 0-10V control. The integrated LED driver dims smoothly and continuously on either. A standard incandescent/TRIAC forward-phase dimmer is not the specified control for this fixture.
4) Will the Illusion pendant run on 277V commercial power?
Yes. It ships with a universal input voltage driver rated 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same fixture works on residential 120V and on 277V lighting circuits in commercial buildings. It is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in.
5) Can the WAC Illusion LED pendant go on a covered porch or over a bathtub area?
It carries a damp location rating and an IP44 rating, which covers covered outdoor spaces like a porch or breezeway and indoor damp areas such as a bath. It is not rated for wet locations with direct rain exposure.
6) How much light does the 34.63 inch Illusion pendant put out, and what color is it?
7495 lumens at 85W, in a 3000K warm white with a flood distribution. The edge-lit ring throws both up and down, so you get direct task light plus indirect ceiling wash from a single fixture. The white acrylic diffuser keeps the source from being a hot spot.
7) Does the Illusion pendant meet California Title 24 for a lighting permit?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 20 and Title 24 compliant, and it is ETL and cETL certified for the US and Canada. It is not Energy Star listed and it is not an ADA compliant fixture, which matters only for wall-mounted protrusion limits, not for a ceiling pendant.
8) How big is the canopy on the Illusion pendant and will it cover my existing junction box?
The backplate measures 11.75 inches by 11.75 inches, which covers a standard 4 inch round or octagonal ceiling outlet box with room to spare. It is a hardwired ceiling mount, so an accessible box and supply at 120V, 240V or 277V is all that is needed.
9) Do I need a separate power cord dropped from the canopy for this cable-hung pendant?
No. Three low-profile suspension cables carry the power themselves on the Illusion, so there is no extra cord hanging alongside. That is the practical difference from most cable-suspended rings, and it is why the drop reads clean in an open lobby or stairwell.
10) What finish and color temperature does the PD-31735 Illusion pendant come in?
It is offered in a Titanium finish at 3000K, ordered as PD-31735-TT. The body is aluminum with a white acrylic diffuser. WAC does offer custom CCT by special order if a project spec calls for something other than 3000K.
