WAC Lighting WAC-PD-39214 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the WAC Amelia mini-pendant be hung on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The Amelia uses a spin-on round canopy that mounts on sloped ceilings, and the cable suspension hangs plumb regardless of pitch. The canopy is 5.88 inches in diameter and hides the driver, so no separate remote driver box is needed above the ceiling.
2) How low can I hang the Amelia pendant over a kitchen island, and how high does it go?
Adjustable from 15 inches to 120 inches overall height. The fixture body itself is 14 inches high and 7 inches across, and you set the drop by trimming the aircraft cable at the push-pin connectors in the canopy. There is 140 inches of supply wire to work with. Longer cable lengths can be special ordered for tall or vaulted rooms.
3) Will the Amelia pendant work on a 277V circuit in a commercial building?
Yes. The driver is universal input, 120V, 240V or 277V, so the same part number works on residential and commercial feeds without ordering a voltage-specific version. It is a hardwired fixture, not plug-in.
4) What dimmer do I need for the WAC Amelia LED pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. The integrated LED driver will not dim correctly on a standard magnetic low voltage or 0-10V control. On ELV or TRIAC it dims smoothly and continuously.
5) Can I use the Amelia mini-pendant over a bathtub, on a covered porch, or in a shower area?
It is damp location rated, ETL and cETL listed with an IP44 rating, so it is good for covered exterior areas, porches, and bathrooms outside the direct spray zone. It is not wet location rated, so do not install it where it will take direct rain or shower spray.
6) How many Amelia pendants do I need over an island, and how bright is each one?
Each head puts out 1937 lumens at 19.3 watts from a single integrated LED, with a flood distribution and a 90 CRI at 3000K soft white. That is substantial output for a 7 inch mini-pendant, so two or three in a row typically light a standard island without additional downlights. Spacing is a design call, but the flood beam and opal glass diffuser spread light rather than spotlighting.
7) Can the bulb be replaced in the Amelia pendant when it burns out?
No. The light source is an integrated LED, not a lamp in a socket, so there is nothing to relamp. It is rated for 50,000 hours average life, and the LED ships installed. For a maintenance spec where field relamping matters, choose a socketed pendant instead.
8) Does the Amelia pendant meet California Title 24 for a kitchen lighting permit?
Yes, it is Title 24 compliant and Title 20 listed, which is what inspectors look for on California residential kitchen and bath work. It is not Energy Star certified, so if your rebate program requires Energy Star specifically, this one will not qualify.
9) What finishes does the Amelia 7 inch mini-pendant come in, and are they all the same light color?
Three finishes: Aged Brass (PD-39214-AB), Black (PD-39214-BK), and Brushed Nickel (PD-39214-BN). All three are 3000K, so you can mix finishes across a space without a color temperature mismatch. The etched opal glass shade is the same on all three.
10) What is the Amelia pendant actually made of, and will it hold up in a rental or hospitality space?
The body is aluminum with a glass shade, hung on powered aircraft cable rather than a rod or chain. Aluminum plus the damp rating means it tolerates humid spaces like bar areas and covered patios. The glass is the vulnerable piece in high-traffic locations, so in a space where fixtures take knocks, a metal-shade pendant is the safer MRO choice.
11) Is the Amelia mini-pendant ADA compliant?
Yes, the Amelia is listed ADA compliant. Keep in mind that for a ceiling-hung pendant the practical concern is mounting height in a circulation path, not projection from a wall, so set the drop so the fixture clears walkway headroom.
