Yes. The Blaze R6DSDR-F9CS accepts 120-277 VAC at 50/60Hz, so it drops onto either a 120V residential circuit or a 277V commercial lighting branch with no separate transformer. The driver is included with the fixture.
2) Does the WAC Blaze 6 inch square downlight need a separate color temperature order, or is it switchable on site?
It is field switchable. One fixture covers 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K, selected at install, so you stock a single part number and set warm 2700K in guest rooms and 4000K or 5000K in back-of-house or garages. CRI is 90.
3) Can the WAC Blaze R6DSDR-F9CS be installed in direct contact with ceiling insulation?
Yes, it is IC rated and airtight, so it can sit against insulation in an insulated ceiling or attic plenum without a standoff box, and the airtight construction limits conditioned air loss through the opening.
4) Will the WAC Blaze 6 inch square downlight work on my existing dimmers?
It dims on both ELV and TRIAC controls, but the low end differs: 100-10 percent on ELV, 100-5 percent on TRIAC. If you need the deeper dim for bedrooms or theaters, run TRIAC. Match the dimmer type across a space so the whole run bottoms out at the same level.
5) Is the R6DSDR-F9CS Blaze downlight a remodel can or a new construction housing?
The R6DSDR-F9CS ships as a remodel (retrofit) unit for cutting into finished ceilings, and WAC offers a new construction frame separately for joist mounting before drywall. If you are roughing in open framing, order the new construction frame along with it.
6) Do I need to hard-wire a junction box for each WAC Blaze downlight?
The fixture comes with metal conduit terminating in a quick connect, so the driver box ties into the branch circuit without building a separate box at every opening. That is the install detail that makes a multi-can retrofit go quickly on a finished ceiling.
7) What is the Blaze square downlight housing made of, and will it hold up in a rental turn?
The trim and housing are die-cast aluminum with a 20-gauge cold rolled steel driver box. That is a metal body rather than plastic, which is why it carries the IC and airtight rating and why it holds shape when a maintenance tech pulls it for a lamp swap or driver service.
