WAC Lighting CT-96-SM – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the WAC CT-96-SM smart control kit work with any LED tape, or only certain InvisiLED runs?
The CT-96-SM is built specifically for WAC InvisiLED Lite, Pro, Pro 2, and Pro 3 tape. It is not a generic tape controller, so if your run is a different tape family, this kit is the wrong control for it.
2) What input voltage does the CT-96-SM smart control kit take?
It accepts 120 to 277 VAC input, so it drops into both residential 120V circuits and 277V commercial lighting branch circuits without a separate step-down.
3) Can I run the InvisiLED tape on DMX instead of Wi-Fi with this control kit?
Both. The CT-96-SM controls the tape over Wi-Fi through the MyWAC app, and it also supports DMX control for projects where the lighting is tied into a professional control platform.
4) Does the WAC CT-96-SM work with Alexa or Google Home?
Yes. Once set up through the MyWAC app, the kit works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice on/off and dimming, which is what most residential and hospitality jobs want rather than a dedicated keypad.
5) What control functions does the CT-96-SM actually give you, dimming or color change?
On/off activation plus up/down dimming. It is a single-channel output intended for high-output tape runs, not a color-tuning or RGB controller.
6) Can the CT-96-SM be mounted on a ceiling, or does it have to sit upright in a cabinet?
Mounting is unrestricted: ceiling or wall, in any orientation. That matters for cove and under-cabinet work where the enclosure ends up inverted or on its side.
7) What is the rated life on the WAC CT-96-SM control kit?
Rated at 50,000 hours, which lines up with typical LED tape life so the control is not the component that forces an early service call.
8) What part number do I order for the WAC InvisiLED smart control kit?
Order WAC Lighting CT-96-SM. It is a single configuration, so there is no finish or voltage option to specify at order time.
