WAC Lighting CTR-WDMX-24VDC – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the WAC Lighting CTR-WDMX-24VDC controller run my 24V outdoor landscape lighting, or is it indoor only?
It works in both. The CTR-WDMX-24VDC is IP65 rated for outdoor use and is equally at home indoors, and it can be mounted on a ceiling or a wall in any orientation. Input is 24 VDC, so it belongs on a 24V low voltage fixture run, not a line voltage one.
2) How many watts of LED fixtures can one CTR-WDMX-24VDC handle?
The controller is rated for 90W of output at 24 VDC. Add up the wattage of the fixtures on the run and stay at or under 90W; anything over that needs a second controller to split the load.
3) Do I need a DMX console to use this WAC wireless controller, or can it run off a phone?
Either way. The CTR-WDMX-24VDC has two control modes: wired DMX for precision control from a console or lighting system, and Wi-Fi for control from the mobile app. It also ties into a WallStation and into smart home platforms like Google Home and Amazon Alexa, so a homeowner or facility staff can run it without touching a DMX desk.
4) How do you set the DMX address on the WAC CTR-WDMX-24VDC?
Two ways, and neither needs a laptop at the fixture. There is a rotary dial on the controller for DMX settings, and the unit supports RDM so the address can be set remotely from the control side. That matters on a job where the controller ends up buried in a soffit or up a pole after install.
5) Am I ordering one controller or a kit when I buy CTR-WDMX-24VDC?
CTR-WDMX-24VDC is a single manufacturer part number with one configuration, so there is no finish, wattage, or voltage option to pick. It is the controller itself; the 24VDC power supply and the fixtures are separate line items on the order.
6) What is the rated life on the WAC CTR-WDMX-24VDC controller?
Rated life is 50,000 hours. For a facility running landscape or accent lighting on a dusk-to-dawn schedule, that is the service interval to plan replacement against when standardizing controls across a property.
