1) What power supply do I need for WAC Basics T24-BS1 24V tape light?
The Basics T24-BS1 runs on 24V DC, so it needs a driver. Two paths: the universal input PS-24DC-U supply (120/220/277V AC in, 24V DC out) which also requires the T24-BS-EX2 lead wire, or the 120VAC EN-BT60 supply, which comes with its lead wire included. The driver is offered in a 288W max load version.
2) How long a continuous run of T24-BS1 tape can I make off one power supply?
Run length depends on how far the supply sits from the start of the tape. With the supply within 6 feet of the tape run, you can feed 40 feet of T24-BS1. Stretch the lead out to 40 feet between supply and tape and the maximum run drops to 30 feet. The higher output T24-BS2 is more restrictive, 20 feet at that same 40 foot lead distance.
3) Can WAC Basics tape light be cut to length on site?
Yes, it can be cut in the field every 4 inches and reconnected with WAC's connectors. The spools ship with I-connectors: 2 of the T24-BS-MM-CL with the 15 foot reel, 8 with the 40 foot reel, and 20 with the 100 foot reel.
4) Is this tape light rated for a bathroom or other damp area?
Basics tape is UL and cUL Listed for damp locations, and it is IP20 rated. That covers indoor damp spots like a covered soffit or a bathroom cove where it won't be sprayed or submerged. IP20 means no protection against water jets or dripping directly on the tape, so it is not a wet location or exterior-exposed product.
5) What dimmers work with WAC Basics 24V tape light?
It dims with electronic low voltage (ELV), TRIAC, or 0-10V controls, with 0-10V only available when you use the PS-24DC-U power supply. Install the dimmer on the primary side of the transformer, not between the driver and the tape.
6) What is the difference between T24-BS1 and T24-BS2 Basics tape?
Output. The BS1 draws 1.2W per foot for roughly 150 lumens per foot; the BS2 is the 2.4W per foot version at up to 250 lumens per foot. Both are 24V DC, 90 CRI. Pick BS1 for cove and accent washes, BS2 where you need task-level brightness or the tape is behind a diffuser.
7) Can I use this tape light in a clothes closet, and does it meet California Title 24?

9) How does the Basics tape mount, and can it run vertically or upside down?
It sticks down with a 3M adhesive bond and can be mounted on a ceiling or wall in any orientation. The profile is low, 0.38 inch and 0.19 inch in section, so it tucks into a cove lip or under a cabinet without showing. The LEDs carry a clear UV stabilized coating over an aluminum base.
10) Is the color quality good enough for retail display or millwork accent lighting?
The LEDs are 90+ CRI, which is the range specifiers ask for on retail, display case and residential millwork work where finishes and merchandise need to read true. Rated life is 50,000 hours, with integrated LEDs that are not replaceable, so the tape is replaced as an assembly at end of life.
