It is a surface-mounted aluminum fixture with a slim trim around a white acrylic diffuser, sized so the light emitting surface takes up as much of the face as possible. No recessed can, no plenum depth, no ceiling cut beyond the junction box, which is why it gets used on concrete decks and hard-lid ceilings where a recessed downlight cannot go.
