WAC Lighting RCG4-WT – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the WAC Lighting RCG4-WT remote work with any ceiling fan?
No. The RCG4-WT is a Bluetooth handheld that talks only to WAC Ceiling Fans equipped with Bluetooth receivers, including 2026 Elite Fan models with those receivers. It will not control a fan from another brand or a WAC fan without a Bluetooth receiver. It is the G4 version, so check the G4 designation against your specific WAC fan model before ordering.
2) What can the WAC G4 remote actually control on the fan?
From the one handheld you get luminaire on/off, 0 to 100 percent dimming on the light, fan on/off, six fan speeds, and Winter/Summer mode (reverse) buttons. So it replaces both a dimmer and a fan speed control at the wall for a compatible WAC fan.
3) How do I control a WAC Bluetooth fan from two or three locations?
Add wall switches. For 3-way or 4-way setups WAC offers additional switches under part number F4-WCBT-WT, used alongside the RCG4-WT handheld. A single RCG4-WT only gives you one control point plus its wall cradle.
4) Can I use this WAC remote in a bathroom or a covered porch?
The RCG4-WT carries a Damp location rating and is listed for indoor use, with UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL listings. Damp covers a bathroom or a covered, protected area, but it is not rated for wet locations with direct exposure to rain or spray.
5) Do I need the RCG4-WT remote at all if the fan has an app?
Not strictly. Every WAC Ceiling Fan can also be run from the free WAC App on Google Play or the App Store, so the remote is optional. Most property managers and hospitality installs still buy it, because a guest or tenant should not need to download an app and pair a phone to turn the fan on.
6) Does the RCG4-WT need to be hardwired or run to a receptacle?
No wiring. It is a battery-powered wireless Bluetooth handheld running on the 2 AAA cells that ship with it, and the cradle is just a wall-mounted holder. All fan control happens over Bluetooth to the receiver in the fan, so no low-voltage run or extra conductor to the switch box is needed.
7) What is the WAC RCG4-WT remote made of and what color is it?
Molded PC (polycarbonate), supplied in White. The cradle mounts to the wall so the handheld has a home rather than disappearing into a couch, which matters on multi-family and rental turnovers.
8) Where can I get the spec sheet and install instructions for the WAC RCG4-WT?
WAC publishes both for this remote: a specification sheet and an installation guide, hosted at zensupply.com/content/pdf/wac-lighting/specification-sheet-22a762.pdf and zensupply.com/content/pdf/wac-lighting/installation-guide-025697.pdf. Useful when a submittal package needs the cut sheet for the control.
