Modern Forms F-RCBT-WT – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Modern Forms RCBT-WT remote work with my older Modern Forms ceiling fan?
Only if the fan is a Bluetooth Modern Forms Smart Fan, which means models purchased in 2021 or later. The F-RCBT-WT talks Bluetooth only. If you have an RF-based Modern Forms fan, the correct control is the F-RC-WT instead, and the Bluetooth unit will not pair with it.
2) Can one Modern Forms Bluetooth remote run several fans in the same room?
Yes. The RCBT-WT can control an unlimited number of Modern Forms Bluetooth fans from the single handheld, working within a 100 ft range. That makes it practical for a great room or a covered patio with two or three fans that you want moving together.
3) Do I need this remote if I already use the Modern Forms app?
No. Every Modern Forms ceiling fan can be run from the free Modern Forms app on Google Play or the App Store, so the RCBT-WT is an optional control. Property managers and hospitality buyers often add it anyway so a guest or tenant has a physical control at the wall without needing a phone or a login.
4) What functions does the Modern Forms RCBT-WT handle besides fan speed?
Six fan speeds plus fan on/off, light on/off, 0-100 percent dimming of the luminaire, and Winter/Summer reverse mode. Breeze mode is also supported on Bluetooth fan models. So it covers both the light and the motor on a smart fan, not just airflow.
5) Does the wall cradle need to be wired or cut into the wall?
No wiring, no box. The included cradle is magnetic and mounts to the wall surface, holding the battery-powered handheld in place. There is no line voltage involved, which is why it drops in where a hardwired wall control would need an electrician and a rough-in.
6) What battery does the Modern Forms Bluetooth fan remote take, and how often will maintenance have to change it?
One CR 2032 coin cell, and it ships with the remote installed. Modern Forms rates it for up to 5 years of normal use, so for an MRO or multi-family portfolio it is not a recurring service item on any short cycle.
7) Is there an installation guide for the Modern Forms F-RCBT-WT remote?
Yes, Modern Forms publishes an installation guide PDF covering pairing and cradle mounting for the F-RCBT-WT. It is worth pulling before the trip out, since pairing a Bluetooth fan is done at the fan, not at a wall switch.
