The wafer-thin Lotos LED Recessed Kit with remote driver combines high quality light output and efficiency while eliminating the need for a large housing. 1) Will the WAC Lotos 4 inch adjustable downlight fit in a shallow ceiling with only about 3 inches of clearance?
Yes. The Lotos wafer-style recessed kit runs on a remote driver instead of a can housing, so it works in shallow ceilings with as little as 3 inches of plenum clearance. That is the whole point of the design: nothing bulky sits above the ceiling plane except the driver, which you tuck into the cavity beside the fixture. If your joist bay or duct run is tighter than 3 inches, this is not the trim to use.
2) Can I install the Lotos 4 inch downlight in an existing ceiling, or does it need new construction framing?
Both work. The Lotos LED recessed kit installs as a remodel cut-in or in new construction, and there is an optional frame-in kit sold separately if you want to pre-wire before the drywall goes up. For a retrofit on an occupied unit, you cut the opening, make up the driver connection in the cavity, and spring the fixture in - no housing to hang off the joists.

5) Will the WAC Lotos adjustable downlight work on a sloped ceiling?
Yes, that is what the adjustable version is for. The gimbal ring pivots 360 degrees on a hinge and rotates on multiple axes, so you can aim the beam plumb out of a raked ceiling, wall wash an art wall, or accent a feature. If you only need straight-down general ambient light on a flat ceiling, the plain Lotos downlight version is the simpler choice - you are paying for aiming you will not use.
6) Do I need to buy a separate driver or transformer for the WAC Lotos 4 inch downlight?
No. The driver ships with the kit. It is a remote driver rather than an integral one, meaning it lands in the ceiling cavity on a whip instead of inside a housing, but there is nothing extra to source. Input is 120 to 277 VAC at 50/60Hz, so the same fixture works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial circuits.
7) What dimmer works with the Lotos 4 inch LED downlight, and how low does it dim?
