WAC Lighting PDW706616-BK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the WAC Lighting Poppin 706616 pendant be installed on an uncovered porch or somewhere it gets rained on?
Yes. The Poppin 706616 outdoor pendant carries a Wet location rating and is ETL and cETL listed, so direct exposure to rain is within what it is built for. That covers open entryways, uncovered porch areas, and covered patios alike.
2) Will the Poppin LED outdoor pendant run on 277V commercial power?
It will. The driver is universal voltage, 120-240-277V, concealed in the backplate, so the same fixture works on a 120V residential circuit or a 277V lighting branch in a light commercial building. No separate voltage version to specify.
3) Do I have to order a separate color temperature, or is it adjustable on the fixture?
One part number covers four color temperatures. The Poppin pendant is field-selectable at 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, or 4000K, so you can set warm 2700K at a residential entry or go up to 4000K where you want a cooler, brighter look. That also means one SKU can be stocked for a whole property and set per opening.
4) Can the Poppin pendant hang from a sloped porch ceiling?
Yes. It ships with a hang-straight swivel in the canopy for slope-ceiling applications, plus three 12 inch and one 6 inch extension rods so you can set the drop height. Additional rods are available if you need to hang lower than the included set allows. Mounting is ceiling only, so it is not a wall-bracket fixture.
5) Does the Poppin pendant meet Title 24 and ADA for a California project?
It is listed as ADA compliant and as CEC, Title 24, and Title 20 compliant, so it can be specified on California residential and light commercial exterior work. Note it is not Energy Star rated, if your program requires that specifically.
6) What dimmers work with the WAC Poppin 706616 pendant?
ELV and TRIAC dimmers. The LED driver dims continuously on both types. If the existing control is a 0-10V or DALI system, this is not the fixture for that circuit.
7) Is the Poppin outdoor pendant bright enough to light an entry on its own?
It puts out 1885 lumens at 28.5 watts total with a flood beam spread, which is enough for a typical residential or light commercial entry door or a single-bay porch. The frosted acrylic diffuser spreads it rather than throwing a hot spot, so for a long covered walkway plan on more than one.
8) Do I need to buy bulbs for this, and can the LED be replaced later?
No bulbs to buy. The LED module ships installed and runs off the universal driver, and the module is replaceable rather than sealed in, which matters on a fleet of exterior fixtures you expect to maintain. Rated life is 50,000 hours.
9) Will the finish hold up in a coastal or high-humidity exterior?
The body is stainless steel with a frosted acrylic diffuser, not a painted pot metal housing, which is the construction you want for salt air and constant damp. It is offered in a Black finish.
10) Is this a plug-in fixture or does it have to be wired in?
Hardwired only. The Poppin outdoor pendant mounts to a ceiling box and the driver sits in the backplate, so an electrician and a supplied junction box are part of the job. There is no cord or plug option.
11) Will this pendant render exterior paint and stone colors accurately at night?
CRI 90, which is high enough for architectural exterior work where brick, stone, and trim color need to read correctly. Paired with the selectable 2700K through 4000K range, you can tune it to the facade rather than accept whatever the fixture ships at.
12) Where can I get the mounting instructions before the electrician shows up?
WAC publishes an installation guide for the Poppin pendant, and ZenSupply hosts it as a PDF on the product record so you can get the rod assembly, swivel, and wiring sequence to the installer ahead of the fixture arriving.
