1) What color temperatures and CRI can I get on the WAC R2ASDT Aether trim?
Four color temperatures in 85 CRI: 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K. In 90 CRI the choices narrow to 2700K and 3000K only. So if a job spec calls for 90 CRI at 3500K or 4000K, the R2ASDT will not meet it, and you would need to accept 85 CRI at those temperatures.
2) Does the WAC Aether R2ASDT square trim come in any finish besides black?
Black only. Every R2ASDT ordering combination, across all four beam angles and all six color temperature and CRI options, is built in black. If the design calls for a white or haze aperture to blend into the ceiling, this trim will not get you there.
3) Can I mix beam angles and color temperatures on the same Aether square trims in one room?
Yes, and it is a common way to spec it. Beam angle and color temperature are independent choices on the R2ASDT, so you can run 17 degree trims over artwork and 50 degree trims for ambient fill while keeping every one of them at, say, 3000K and 90 CRI (R2ASDT-F930-BK and R2ASDT-W930-BK). Keeping the CRI value the same across the room matters as much as the Kelvin number if you want the light to match.
4) I need a square aperture rather than a round one for a remodel, is the WAC Aether R2ASDT the right trim?
It is, if the ceiling detail calls for a square 2 inch aperture. The R2ASDT is the Aether square downlight trim in a 2 inch size, so the visible cut in the ceiling reads as a square rather than a circle. Architects often use the square aperture to line up with a grid, coffer, or millwork edge; if the rest of the ceiling is round aperture cans, a square trim will stand out rather than blend.
