1) Can the WAC Blitzen 54 inch smart ceiling fan be installed on a covered patio or porch?
The Blitzen carries a Damp location rating and is listed for indoor or outdoor use, so a covered porch, breezeway or screened patio is fine. Damp means protected from direct rain and spray, so it should not go in an open, exposed location where it gets rained on.
2) Does the Blitzen ceiling fan come with a light, or can I add one later?
No light on the Blitzen. It ships without a light kit and it is not light kit adaptable, so there is no field-added luminaire option. A cap is included to finish the bottom of the housing. If the room needs light from the fan, choose a WAC or Modern Forms fan that ships with an integrated LED instead.
3) Will this 54 inch fan work on a sloped or vaulted ceiling?
Yes, the Blitzen is sloped ceiling compatible. WAC and Modern Forms fans handle slopes up to 30 degrees out of the box; for 32 to 45 degrees you add the XF-SCK slope ceiling kit. Downrods for longer drops are ordered separately.
4) Do I need to buy a remote or wall control for the Blitzen smart fan?
A remote is included. The Bluetooth handheld remote with wall cradle ships in the box (F-RCBT-WT). A hardwired Bluetooth wall control (F-WCBT-WT) is a separate order, and buying two or more lets you set up 3-way or 4-way switching. It also runs from the app or a wall-mounted Android or iOS tablet.
5) Does this fan meet California Title 24 and Energy Star requirements for a permitted job?
The Blitzen is Energy Star qualified and listed as both Title 20 and Title 24 compliant, and it is flagged ADA compliant. That covers the usual boxes on a California residential or multi-family submittal.
6) What size room suits a 54 inch three-blade fan like the Blitzen?
With a 54 inch blade span and 23.5 inch blades, the Blitzen covers a living room, master bedroom, or a medium to large covered patio. For a small bedroom or breakfast nook a 42 inch fan is a better match, and for a great room step up to 60 inches or larger.
7) Can the Blitzen run in reverse for winter heat circulation?
Yes. The motor is reversible, so you can push warm air back down in heating season. Note the blades themselves are not reversible, so there is no second blade color to flip to.
8) Is the Blitzen fan quiet enough for a bedroom, and how many speeds does it have?
It uses a DC motor with six speeds. WAC and Modern Forms DC fans are factory-balanced and sound tested so they do not wobble, rattle or click, and they run up to 70 percent more efficient than a conventional AC fan. Low speed is usable overnight in a bedroom.
