Metallics JSQW75G – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size rod or bolt does the Metallics JSQW75G square washer fit?
The JSQW75G is a 3/8 inch square washer, so it suits 3/8 inch threaded rod, hanger rod, bolts, and strut hardware. On electrical hanging work that is the common rod size for trapeze supports and heavier conduit runs, so if your rod is 3/8-16 or 3/8 all-thread, this is the matching washer.
2) How many square washers come in a jar of Metallics JSQW75G?
One hundred washers per jar, and the jar is the pack form, not a box or a bag. For a crew doing repetitive rod hanging that is a count you can hand to one installer for a day's work without breaking down a bulk carton.
3) Are these 3/8 square washers galvanized for damp or outdoor use?
Galvanized, yes. The zinc coating gives these 3/8 square washers corrosion resistance suitable for damp interior areas, unheated spaces, and protected exterior work. For continuous water immersion or marine exposure, step up to stainless.
4) Why use a square washer instead of a round flat washer on strut and rod hangers?
A square washer spreads load over a larger bearing area and seats flat against the flange of channel strut, angle iron, and wood framing, where a round washer can roll into the slot or bridge the opening. That is why the 3/8 square galvanized washer is standard on trapeze hangers and strut-mounted conduit supports rather than a plain round flat washer.
5) Do I need nuts separately, or does the jar include them?
Washers only. A jar of JSQW75G contains 100 square washers and no nuts or rod, so order 3/8 hex nuts and 3/8 threaded rod separately to complete a hanger assembly.
6) Is the Metallics JSQW75G made in the USA?
Yes, the JSQW75G 3/8 square galvanized washer is USA made. That matters on public and institutional jobs carrying domestic sourcing language in the spec.
7) Is JSQW75G an electrical fastener or general hardware?
It is sold as an electrical fastener, a washer in the Metallics electrical supplies line, but there is nothing electrical-specific about the part itself. A 3/8 galvanized square washer works the same on a plumbing hanger or a steel framing connection as it does under a conduit trapeze nut.
