Metallics JSW68 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are these zinc plated steel washers OK for outdoor or damp electrical work?
The JSW68 washer is zinc-plated steel with a zinc chromate finish, which is a mild corrosion-resistant coating meant for dry indoor and protected applications. In wet locations, direct weather exposure, or corrosive atmospheres, a stainless washer is the better call. Metallics lists the application as metal to metal, so it is intended for bolted steel-to-steel joints such as panel, enclosure, and strut assembly.
2) How many washers come in a Metallics JSW68 jar?
One hundred #4 flat washers per jar. The jar pack is the reason electricians keep these on the truck, the lid keeps small washers from scattering in a gang box or bin. Total weight of the jar is 0.11 lbs.
