Watco 981-CA-PVC-WH Half Kit Bath Waste and Overflow, PVC, White, 34"

The Watco 981-CA-PVC-WH is a 34" half kit bath waste and overflow assembly built with PVC tubing and finished in white, designed for tub drain and overflow rough-in on new construction or replacement installs. This half kit configuration supplies the tubular waste and overflow tube run so a plumber or contractor can connect the tub drain to the trap and overflow inlet without needing to source separate tubing. The PVC construction is intended for behind-the-wall rough-in work where a lightweight, easy-to-cut plastic waste tube is preferred over metal tubular waste. The 34" length gives installers enough tube to route from the overflow opening down to the drain shoe on most standard tub configurations, with field trimming as needed to fit the specific tub and wall cavity.

Key Features

  • Trade Size: 34" overall tube length for standard tub waste and overflow runs.
  • Durable Construction: PVC tubing that resists corrosion and is easy to cut and fit during rough-in.
  • Half Kit Configuration: Supplies the waste and overflow tube components for pairing with a Watco drain and overflow trim set.
  • Finish: White PVC for a clean appearance where any exposed tubing is visible.
  • Application: Sized and configured for bathtub drain and overflow rough-in behind the wall or under the tub deck.

Watco 981-CA-PVC-WH – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Watco 981-CA-PVC-WH half kit actually include, and what else do I need to finish a tub drain?
The 981-CA-PVC-WH is a half kit, meaning it supplies the tubular waste and overflow tube run in PVC, not the finished drain and overflow trim. You pair it with a Watco drain and overflow trim set to complete the installation. Plan on also having your trap and the drain shoe connection ready, since the tube run routes from the overflow opening down to the shoe.
2) Is 34 inches of tube enough for a standard bathtub overflow to drain run?
Yes for most standard tubs. The 34 inch overall tube length gives enough run from the overflow opening down to the drain shoe on typical tub configurations, and the PVC trims easily in the field to suit the specific tub and wall cavity depth.
3) Should I use a PVC bath waste and overflow or a brass tubular one?
PVC like the Watco 981-CA-PVC-WH is the choice for behind the wall or under deck rough-in where you want a lightweight tube you can cut with a saw on site and that will not corrode. Brass tubular waste is what people reach for when the tubing stays exposed under a clawfoot or freestanding tub and has to look like finished metal, or where a local spec calls for metallic DWV. For concealed tub rough-in, the plastic run is the simpler install.
4) Can I use the Watco 981 half kit on a replacement tub drain, or is it only for new construction?
Both. The 981-CA-PVC-WH is configured for bathtub drain and overflow rough-in on new construction tub installations and on tub waste and overflow replacement work, in residential and light commercial bathrooms. On a replacement you get access, cut the old run out, and trim the 34 inch PVC tube to the length your existing overflow to shoe dimension needs.
5) Will the white PVC tubing look alright if part of the run ends up visible?
The tubing is white PVC, which reads clean where a short section of the run is exposed under a tub deck or in an access panel. It is still a rough-in waste tube though, not decorative trim; if the whole run is on display, use a finished metal tubular waste instead.
6) What is the exact part number to order this Watco white PVC half kit under?
Order it as Watco 981-CA-PVC-WH. That is the 34 inch white PVC bath waste and overflow half kit, and the number covers the single configuration, so there is no length or color option to specify separately.
