1) Does the Weslock 1401 Impressa interior knob work on its own, or do I need the exterior handleset too?
It's an interior trim pack only. The 1401 Impressa knob has to be paired with an interconnected Weslock exterior handleset to function as a lock. If you're replacing a whole entry set, order the exterior handleset as well; if the exterior handleset on the door is fine and only the inside knob is damaged or dated, this is the piece you need.
2) Is the Weslock 1401 latch a 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset?
The 1401 Impressa ships with the 2-3/8 inch backset latch. Weslock's latches are non-adjustable, so if your door is bored at 2-3/4 inches (measured from the door edge to the center of the bore) this latch will not reach. Measure before ordering: 2-3/8 and 2-3/4 are the two common backsets and they are not interchangeable on a non-adjustable latch.
