1) Is the Weslock 6602 a complete handleset or just the inside trim?
The 6602 is interior trim only. It's the inside half that pairs with a Weslock Mansion or Philbrook exterior handleset, and it comes as a double cylinder function, meaning the deadbolt is keyed on the inside as well as the outside rather than using a thumbturn. Ordering it on its own gets you the interior knob and the deadbolt inside cylinder, not the exterior grip. If you want a thumbturn on the inside instead, a double cylinder is the wrong function to specify.
2) What door prep does the Weslock Philbrook 6602 need, and will it fit my existing holes?
It drops into a door bored with 2-1/8 inch top and bottom cross holes and a 1 inch edge bore, with a 5-1/2 inch minimum center to center between the two cross holes. A 1-5/8 inch top cross hole is an option if that's what your door already has. If your existing door is bored on a 5-1/2 inch or wider spacing at 2-1/8 inch, no new boring is needed.
3) Does the Weslock 6602 fit a 2-3/8 inch backset door or do I need a 2-3/4?
Either. The latch supplied with the 6602 is adjustable between 2-3/8 and 2-3/4 inch backset, so one part covers both of the standard residential preps and you don't have to measure before you order. The faceplates are removable, which lets you match the existing mortise in the door edge.
4) Will the Weslock 6602 deadbolt latch into the strike already in my jamb?
The deadbolt throws 1 inch, which needs a full 1 inch deep strike pocket in the jamb. Two strikes ship with it: a 2-1/4 inch full lip strike and a 1 inch by 2-1/4 inch strike, each in radius and square corner versions, so you can match whatever corner your existing jamb mortise has. Both fasten with 3 inch screws that reach past the jamb into the stud. If your old strike is shallower than 1 inch, swap it rather than trying to seat the new bolt in it.
5) Can I key the Weslock 6602 to match the other locks on my house?
Yes, within Weslock. It uses a 5-pin cylinder on the Weslock keyway, and keying is a required selection at order: keyed different, or keyed alike so it runs on the same key as other Weslock cylinders on the order. There's a key code field if you're matching an existing Weslock key already in service. It won't key into a Kwikset or Schlage keyway, so a house standardized on one of those needs its cylinders changed or the whole set matched to Weslock.
6) What is the difference between the Weslock 6602 double cylinder trim and a single cylinder interior trim pack?
The 6602 is keyed on the inside. A single cylinder interior pack, like the Kwikset 966BRNL-SQT Breton lever trim for the 687 and 800 Series or the Schlage JH59 Broadway lever with a Collins thumbturn, gives you a thumbturn or blank inside and only one key. Double cylinder is what you want on a door with glass beside or in it, since an intruder who breaks the glass still can't turn the bolt without a key. The trade off is egress: you need the key on the inside to get out, so it's the wrong choice on a primary escape route where anyone might be trapped.
7) The door is 1-3/8 inch thick - which handleset interior trim fits?
The Weslock 6602 interior trim adjusts to door thicknesses from 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch, so it covers a 1-3/8 inch door directly. Among the other handleset trims, the Schlage Residential JH59 Broadway lever inside trim with Collins deadbolt thumbturn is rated 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch and also covers it. The Schlage F59 Accent lever interior pack starts at 1-5/8 inch, as does the FC59 Alexandria glass knob trim, so neither reaches a 1-3/8 inch door.
8) Can I put the Weslock 6602 trim on a Kwikset 800 series handleset?
No. The Weslock 6602 is interior trim for the Weslock Mansion or Philbrook handleset and uses a 5-pin Weslock keyway. Trim built for the Kwikset Signature Series 800 and 687 handlesets is a different set of parts: the Kwikset 966AO Aliso and 966BL Balboa interior packs are made for the Signature Series 800 and 687 handlesets, and the Kwikset 966BRNL-SQT Breton lever trim is a universal design for 687 and 800 series outside trim. Match the interior trim to the exterior handleset brand and series.
9) What is the closest equivalent to the Weslock 6602 interior trim if the door needs a lever instead of a knob?
The Weslock 6602 interior handleset trim comes with an Impressa knob or a Julienne knob in Oil Rubbed Bronze.
