1) What does double cylinder mean on the Weslock 7602, and is it allowed on a bedroom or exit door?
Double cylinder means the deadbolt is keyed on both sides, so there is no thumbturn inside, you need a key to retract the bolt from within. That is the point when the door has glass beside it or in it, since breaking the glass gets nobody in. Many local codes restrict keyed egress on required exit doors, so check your local requirement before specifying it. If you want a thumbturn inside instead, you want the single cylinder version of the 7600 trim.
2) Will the Weslock 7602 fit my door thickness?
As shipped it adjusts from 1-3/4 inch to 2 inch. If your door is thicker, pick the 2 inch to 2-1/4 inch option when ordering, that is a required choice on the order and it changes the parts you get. Anything under 1-3/4 inch is too thin for this trim.
3) What door prep does the Weslock 7602 Stonebriar handleset trim need?
Two 2-1/8 inch cross bores (a 1-5/8 inch top bore is an option) with a 1 inch edge bore, and at least 5-1/2 inches center to center between the two cross holes. If your existing door has a tighter spacing than 5-1/2 inches, this trim will not land on it.
4) Will the strike that comes with this Weslock trim match my existing round-corner or square-corner mortise in the jamb?
Both shapes are covered. It ships with a 2-1/4 inch full lip strike plus a 1 inch x 2-1/4 inch strike, in radius and square corner. The latch faceplate itself is 1 inch x 2-1/4 inch. Strikes are heavy duty with 3 inch screws that reach the framing behind the jamb, and the deadbolt throws 1 inch with hardened steel rollers against sawing.
5) Can I key this Weslock 7602 to the rest of my Weslock locks?
Yes, within the Weslock keyway. It uses a 5 pin cylinder on the Weslock keyway, and keying is selected free at order time, keyed different or keyed alike, with a field for an existing key code. It will not key into a Kwikset or Schlage system, different keyway.
6) What is the closest alternative to the Weslock 7602 handleset interior trim if I need a thumbturn instead of a key on the inside?
The Weslock 7602 is a double cylinder interior trim, meaning the inside of the deadbolt is keyed rather than turned by hand. If you want a thumbturn on the interior, the Schlage Residential FC59 Alexandria glass knob interior trim pack includes a deadbolt thumbturn and the Schlage Residential JH59 Broadway lever inside trim uses a Collins deadbolt thumbturn. Both are Grade 2 and Grade 3 respectively, so confirm which grade your job calls for before swapping.
7) I need interior handleset trim with a lever instead of a knob - what are my options besides the Weslock 7602 Wexford knob?
The Weslock 7602 trim uses the Wexford knob. For a lever-style interior trim, the Kwikset 966BRL-LH Brooklane lever is a left hand single cylinder handleset trim in Grade 2, and the Kwikset 966BRNL-SQT Breton lever on a square rose is also Grade 2. The Schlage Residential JH59 Broadway lever inside trim is a Grade 3 option. Note the Kwikset levers are handed or designed for Kwikset 687 and 800 series outside trim, so they are not a drop-in for a Weslock handleset exterior.
8) Can I use a Kwikset 966 interior pack in place of the Weslock 7602 trim?
They are not interchangeable. The Kwikset 966AO Aliso and 966BL Balboa interior packs are built for Kwikset Signature Series 800 and 687 handlesets and are keyed one side, while the Weslock 7602 is double cylinder trim on the Weslock keyway with a 5-pin cylinder. Interior handleset trim has to match the exterior handleset it mounts through, so pair the Weslock trim with a Weslock Stonebriar or Wiltshire exterior.
9) What else could I use instead of the Weslock 7602 interior handleset trim?
