1) Will the Accentra 197 jimmy proof deadlock work on an outswinging door?
Not with the angle strike. The 197 comes two ways: the angle strike version, which wraps the frame on an inswinging door, and the 197F with a flat strike for outswinging doors. Order the flat strike option if the door swings out toward you, otherwise the strike has nothing to catch on.
2) What backset does the Accentra 197 rim deadlock need in the door?
2-3/8 inches, the standard backset. That is the distance from the door edge to the center of the cylinder hole, so if the door is already bored for a 2-3/8 backset from an existing jimmy proof lock or bored lock, the hole lines up. A door prepped at 2-3/4 will not.
3) Does the Accentra 197 deadlock have to be ordered left hand or right hand?
No handing to specify. The 197 is non-handed, so one part covers both left and right hand doors. The only ordering decision that changes with the opening is the strike: angle for inswing, flat (197F) for outswing.
4) Does the Accentra 197 jimmy proof lock come with a cylinder and keys, or do I buy those separately?

Pick the 197 when you want auxiliary security added to a door without boring it through, or when you are replacing an existing jimmy proof lock. Pick a bored deadbolt when the door is already prepped for one.
7) Can I add the Accentra 197 to a door that already has a knob or leverset on it?
Yes, that is the normal use. The 197 is an auxiliary lock, meaning it works as a second lock above the existing latchset rather than replacing it. It needs its own cylinder hole at a 2-3/8 backset and its own strike on the frame, so it does not interfere with the primary lock's prep.
8) Is the Accentra 197 deadlock fire rated or UL listed for a fire door?
