Yes. The 8655 saddle threshold stands 1/2 inch high, which is the maximum height an accessible opening allows, and Zero states it as ADA compliant. Anything taller than 1/2 inch has to be beveled or ramped to pass; at 1/2 inch flat this one clears as-is.
2) Can I use the Zero 8655 threshold on a fire rated door opening?
Yes. The 8655 is fire rated up to 3 hours, so it can go under a rated opening in a stairwell, corridor, or exit. It also carries ANSI/BHMA J32100 and J32130 designations.
3) What length do I order for a Zero 8655 threshold on a 36 inch door, and what about a pair of doors?
Order the 36 inch for a single 3-0 door. For a pair, or any opening wider than 36 inches, take the 72 inch and cut it down on site; aluminum cuts clean with a miter saw and a non-ferrous blade. Zero also lists the 8655 in 48 and 96 inch lengths. Width is 5 inches and height is 1/2 inch regardless of the length you pick.
4) Is 5 inches wide enough for the 8655 threshold to cover my door and take a sweep or seal?
A 5 inch face gives you room to sit under a 1-3/4 inch commercial door and still land material on both the interior and exterior side of the door stop. That is the practical difference between the 5 inch saddle and a narrower 3 or 4 inch one: the wider platform lets the door bottom sweep or automatic door bottom contact the threshold well inside the wet edge rather than right at the lip.
5) Can I screw a Zero 8655 saddle threshold straight into a concrete slab?
Yes, that is what the heavy gauge aluminum is for. You drill and anchor through the threshold directly into the concrete without the buckling and screw loosening that thinner commercial extrusions give you under traffic. Anchors are a separate buy, sized to your slab condition.
6) What finishes does the Zero 8655 come in, and which one holds up on an exterior door?
Three: clear anodized aluminum, dark bronze, and black. Clear anodized is the standard exterior choice and matches most storefront and aluminum entrance work. Dark bronze pairs with bronze anodized storefront and dark hardware sets, black with black frame packages. Zero also describes the 8655 in a mill finish aluminum. All three anodized options are available in both the 36 inch and 72 inch lengths.
7) I need to join a threshold to an existing sill or panic threshold. Does the Zero 8655 do that?
