Metallics RB31 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size conduit does the Metallics RB31 reducing bushing connect?
The RB31 is a steel conduit reducing bushing that takes a 1-1/4 inch opening down to 3/4 inch. It is ordered as model RB31.
2) Is the Metallics RB31 bushing steel or plastic?
Steel. The RB31 reducing bushing is a steel part, not an insulating plastic bushing, so if the job calls for a plastic insulating throat you need a different item.
3) Do I need a reducing bushing or a reducing washer for a 1-1/4 inch box knockout?
A reducing bushing like the RB31 threads into the larger opening and gives you a 3/4 inch threaded connection, which is what you want when you are landing a 3/4 inch conduit or fitting into a 1-1/4 inch hub or knockout. Reducing washers are the flat pair used on oversized sheet metal knockouts where no thread is available.
