Allied Tube & Conduit CCR50-ICKON – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Allied Tube & Conduit CCR50-ICKON connector be used outdoors or in a wet location?
Yes. The CCR50-ICKON is a raintight compression connector, rated for outdoor and wet location use, so it suits exterior EMT runs, rooftop conduit, and damp mechanical spaces. The body is zinc plated to resist corrosion in those conditions.
2) What size conduit does the CCR50-ICKON compression connector take?
It is the 1/2 inch size. One 1/2 inch EMT end goes into the compression nut, and the threaded end takes the locknut at the box.
3) Do I still need a plastic bushing or anti-short insert with this connector?
No. The CCR50-ICKON comes with an insulated throat, so the conductor bearing surface inside the connector is already protected and no separate bushing is needed to keep wire insulation off a raw metal edge.
4) Should I use a compression connector or a set screw connector on my EMT run?
Compression is the one to use where water can reach the fitting: the CCR50-ICKON is raintight and suited to outdoor and wet locations. Set screw fittings are for dry interior work only. If the run leaves the building, crosses a roof, or sits in a damp area, go compression.
5) What is the manufacturer part number to order for the 1/2 inch Allied raintight insulated throat connector?
Order Atkore Allied Tube & Conduit part number CCR50-ICKON. That is the 1/2 inch raintight compression connector with the insulated throat and blue nut.
6) Why does this Allied connector have a blue nut?
The blue compression nut is an identification aid. On a job where crews are pulling both dry location set screw fittings and raintight compression fittings out of the same gang box, the colored nut lets an inspector or installer tell at a glance that the raintight fitting was used.
7) Is a locknut included with the CCR50-ICKON, and do I need a sealing gasket at the box?
The CCR50-ICKON is supplied as the connector itself with its blue compression nut and insulated throat. For a raintight result at the enclosure, the fitting still has to land in a box listed for the location, and a sealing locknut or gasket at the knockout is a separate item you order alongside it.
