Metallics SCR0050 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does this clamp mount to strut channel, or is it a one-hole strap?
It is a strut clamp, not a one-hole or two-hole strap. It is made to fasten into strut channel, so you need the channel plus the nut and bolt hardware for the channel you are using. If you are fastening conduit flat to a wall or deck, a conduit strap is the right part instead.
2) Is the SCR0050 for rigid conduit or EMT?
It is specified as a rigid clamp, so it is sized to 1/2 inch rigid metal conduit. EMT in the same trade size has a smaller outside diameter, so a 1/2 inch EMT strut clamp is the correct part for tubing runs.
3) What does the EG in Metallics SCR0050 mean, and is it OK for damp locations?
EG is electrogalvanized, a zinc plated steel finish. That suits dry and normally damp indoor runs. For sustained outdoor exposure, wash-down areas, or corrosive environments, specify a hot dip galvanized or stainless strut clamp instead of the electrogalvanized version.
