Metallics SCR0250 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size conduit does the Metallics SCR0250 strut clamp hold?
The SCR0250 is sized for 2-1/2 inch rigid conduit. It is a one-size clamp, so for other trade sizes you need the matching clamp in the series rather than this part number.
2) Does the Metallics SCR0250 clamp mount to strut channel?
Yes. It is a strut clamp, so it fastens into standard strut channel to support a 2-1/2 inch rigid conduit run. If you are strapping conduit directly to a wall or deck rather than to channel, use a one-hole or two-hole conduit strap instead.
3) Will the Metallics SCR0250 work on EMT or IMC, or only rigid?
It is specified as a rigid conduit clamp at 2-1/2 inch. IMC shares the same outside diameter as rigid at a given trade size, so a 2-1/2 inch rigid clamp fits 2-1/2 inch IMC. EMT is a smaller OD at the same trade size, so use a clamp marked for EMT on EMT runs.
4) What does the EG finish on the Metallics SCR0250 mean, and is it OK outdoors?
EG is electro-galvanized, a zinc plating suited to dry indoor and protected locations. For wet exterior runs or corrosive environments, specify a hot-dip galvanized or stainless strut clamp instead.
5) What part number do I order for a 2-1/2 inch rigid strut clamp from Metallics?
Order Metallics SCR0250. That is the manufacturer part number for the 2-1/2 inch rigid, electro-galvanized strut clamp.
