Metallics SCE0050 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does this Metallics clamp mount to strut channel or directly to a wall?
It is a strut clamp, so it is made to fasten 1/2 inch EMT to channel framing, not to be screwed flat to a wall or deck. For surface mounting conduit straight to a stud, block, or deck, use a one-hole or two-hole EMT strap instead.
2) Can I use this clamp on 1/2 inch rigid or IMC conduit instead of EMT?
No. The SCE0050 is dimensioned for 1/2 inch EMT, which has a smaller outside diameter than 1/2 inch rigid or IMC. Trade size 1/2 rigid needs a clamp sized for rigid conduit, not this EMT clamp.
3) What does the EG in Metallics SCE0050 mean?
EG is electrogalvanized, a zinc plated finish typical for indoor and dry-location conduit support. For exposed outdoor or damp runs, specify a hot dip galvanized or stainless clamp instead.
4) Is a strut nut or hardware included with the Metallics SCE0050?
Order it as the clamp only. Plan on the channel nut and bolt your strut system takes, plus the strut itself, to complete the support.
