Metallics HCT19 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the white HCT19 cable tie suitable for outdoor or UV-exposed runs?
The HCT19 is a white nylon tie, not a UV-stabilized black one. White and natural nylon ties are intended for indoor or protected use; for exterior runs, rooftop conduit, or anywhere in direct sun, specify a UV-rated black weather-resistant tie instead.
2) Can I use the Metallics HCT19 nylon tie in a plenum or air-handling space?
Standard nylon 6/6 ties are not a plenum-rated product. For return-air plenums and air-handling ceilings, use a plenum-rated tie (typically fluoropolymer) or metal strapping that satisfies your inspector. The HCT19 is a standard nylon tie for ordinary bundling.
3) What does heavy duty mean on a cable tie like the Metallics HCT19 versus a standard tie?
Heavy duty refers to a thicker, wider strap than a standard tie of the same length, so it holds a heavier bundle without stretching or snapping during pull-up. For supporting weighty cable groups or anywhere the bundle takes handling and vibration, the heavy duty HCT19 is the right pick over a light-duty miniature tie of the same 14 inch length.
4) Does the Metallics HCT19 tie come in any other length or color?
HCT19 is a single configuration: 14 inch, heavy duty, white nylon. There is no size or color choice on this part number, so if you need black UV ties or a different length you're ordering a different model.
