Metallics HCT22 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the HCT22 cable tie white or black, and does the color matter outdoors?
The HCT22 is a white nylon tie. White (natural) nylon is the indoor color; black ties are the UV stabilized version used for sunlight exposure. For exterior runs, rooftop conduit, or anywhere the bundle sees direct sun, specify a black UV rated tie instead of this one.
2) Are the Metallics HCT22 heavy duty cable ties made in the USA?
Yes. The HCT22 36 inch nylon tie is USA made, which matters on federal, military, and other Buy American specified jobs where domestic sourcing has to be documented on the submittal.
3) What is the difference between a heavy duty cable tie like the HCT22 and a standard cable tie?
Heavy duty refers to the strap thickness and width, not just length. The HCT22 is a heavy duty 36 inch nylon tie, so it is built for large, heavy bundles where a standard light duty tie would stretch or snap under load. For small signal or control bundles inside an enclosure, a standard duty tie in a shorter length is the easier and tidier choice.
