Metallics CTR14BLK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics CTR14BLK cable tie reusable or is it a one-time pull-tight?
The CTR14BLK is a releasable tie, so the pawl can be disengaged and the tie reopened and reused. That is what you want on panel work, temporary bundles, or any run you expect to add conductors to later. A standard non-releasable tie has to be cut off to make a change.
2) Can the Metallics CTR14BLK black cable tie be used outdoors or in sunlight?
Black with UV protection, which is the combination specified for outdoor and sun-exposed bundling. Natural nylon ties chalk and crack in UV; the black UV formulation is what holds up on rooftop runs, exterior conduit, and service entrances.
3) How long is the Metallics CTR14BLK tie and what size bundle does it suit?
It is a 14 inch tie, which puts it in the range used for larger conductor bundles, multiple runs of MC or NM, and strapping cable to strut or to a pole. For single small home-run bundles a shorter tie wastes less tail.
4) Is a releasable tie like the CTR14BLK the right choice for a permanent installation?
For a bundle that will never be touched again, a fixed one-piece tie is the simpler pick, since nothing can be released by hand. Use the CTR14BLK where access matters: control panels, equipment rooms, temporary construction power, and anywhere you will be adding or pulling conductors out of the bundle later.
5) What is the Metallics part number to order for the 14 inch black releasable tie?
Order Metallics CTR14BLK. That is the single model offered for the 14 inch black UV nylon releasable tie, so there is no length or color option to specify on the order.
