Metallics MCT15BLK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics MCT15BLK cable tie rated for outdoor use?
The MCT15BLK is a black UV-resistant cable tie, so it is made for exposed and sunlight-facing runs where a natural nylon tie would chalk and break down. Black UV ties are the standard choice for exterior conduit runs, rooftop work, and outdoor equipment bundling.
2) What is the mounting tab on the MCT15BLK cable tie for?
The MCT15BLK has an integral mounting tab, a flat lug with a hole at the head end so the tie can be screwed or bolted directly to a surface. That lets you anchor a bundle to a wall, panel, stud, or strut without a separate cable tie mount or adhesive base. You supply the screw or bolt.
3) Do I need separate cable tie mounts if I use the Metallics MCT15BLK?
No. Because the tab is molded into the tie itself, you skip the adhesive bases or screw-down saddles you would need with a plain tie. The only extra item is the fastener that goes through the tab hole.
4) Is a black UV tie the same as a plain nylon cable tie?
Not for exterior work. Natural (off-white) nylon ties are indoor-only; they get brittle in sunlight. The MCT15BLK is the black UV-stabilized version, which is what you want anywhere the tie sees daylight. Indoors, in a panel or above a ceiling, either will hold.
5) How do I order the Metallics 15-5/16 inch black UV mounting-tab cable tie?
Order it by part number MCT15BLK. It is a single configuration, so there is no length, color, or tab option to specify.
