Metallics CTSUV15 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Metallics CTSUV15 cable tie rated for outdoor use?
Yes. The CTSUV15 is a black UV-stabilized nylon cable tie built for weather-resistant service, so it holds up in exterior runs, rooftop conduit bundles, and other sun-exposed locations where natural nylon ties chalk and crack. Black UV nylon is the standard choice for outdoor bundling.
2) What is the difference between a black UV cable tie and a standard natural nylon tie?
Both are nylon, but the CTSUV15 is the UV-stabilized black version. Natural (off-white) ties are for indoor, protected locations only; exposed to sunlight they become brittle and snap. If the bundle sees daylight, weather, or is in an unconditioned space, go with the black UV tie.
3) Can I use Metallics CTSUV15 ties for low voltage and data bundles as well as power?
Yes. It is a nylon self-locking tie, so it is electrically non-conductive and works the same on power feeders, control wiring, data bundles, or securing cable to strut and messenger wire. Nylon ties are not a substitute for listed supports where code requires a strap or clamp.
