Ty-Duct TY1X4WHW6 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Ty-Duct TY1X4WHW6 wiring duct halogen free, and what is it made of?
Yes. The TY1X4WHW6 is a halogen free wiring duct molded in modified PPE rather than PVC, which is why it carries a higher temperature rating than PVC duct. That combination is what gets specified in transit, telecom, and shipboard-style panels where halogenated smoke is a problem during a fire.
2) Does the TY1X4WHW6 duct come pre-punched for mounting, or do I have to drill it?
Mounting holes are already in the duct base, so it screws straight to a back panel or subplate with no drilling. Only the fasteners are on you, as they are not part of the duct.
3) What are the dimensions of the Ty-Duct TY1X4WHW6 wide slot duct?
It is a 1X4 profile duct with a stated net width of 1.25 in (31.75 mm) and a net depth/length value of 6 in (152.4 mm). It is sold by the foot, so lay out your panel runs in linear feet and order accordingly.
4) Why choose wide slot duct instead of narrow slot wiring duct?
Wide fingers and wide slots make the duct more rigid and let you drop in larger bundles and terminated wires without threading them through tight openings. Narrow slot duct holds small conductors more neatly but fights you on bundles and pre-terminated leads. For a control panel with heavy multi-conductor runs, the wide slot TY1X4WHW6 is the easier build.
5) Does the Ty-Duct wide slot duct include a cover?
The TY1X4WHW6 is the duct body only. Wide slot duct uses a matching snap-on cover sized to the same 1X4 profile, so order the cover separately in the same width if you need the wire run closed in.
6) Will the white TY1X4WHW6 duct match the rest of my panel wireway?
It is white, which is the common panel-interior color and matches most white wiring duct already installed. If your existing runs are gray, the profile will still fit the same layout but the color will read differently.
