Ty-Duct TY2X4WHW6 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Ty-Duct TY2X4WHW6 wiring duct halogen free, and what is it made of?
Yes, the TY2X4WHW6 is a halogen free wiring duct molded in modified PPE rather than PVC. Modified PPE carries a higher temperature rating than PVC, so it suits enclosures and panels where heat buildup or halogen-free material requirements rule out standard PVC duct.
2) Does this Ty-Duct wiring duct come with mounting holes pre-punched?
Yes, the TY2X4WHW6 duct base is supplied with mounting holes, so you can screw it straight to a panel or backplate without drilling the base yourself.
3) What is the advantage of wide slot duct over narrow finger duct?
Wide fingers and slots increase the rigidity of the duct body and let you insert larger bundles of wire through a single opening. Narrow slot duct gives you more exit points for individual conductors; wide slot, like the TY2X4WHW6, is the choice when you are routing heavy bundles or multi-conductor cable and want the sidewalls to hold their shape.
4) Is the Ty-Duct TY2X4WHW6 sold by the foot or by the stick?
Pricing and quantity on the TY2X4WHW6 run on a per-foot selling unit of measure. Work out your total linear footage for the panel and order against that rather than counting sticks.
5) Is the TY2X4WHW6 part number cross-referenced to another ID?
Yes. The Ty-Duct TY2X4WHW6 carries a replacement product ID of 7TCA104220R0020, so if your drawing or BOM lists that number, this is the matching 2x4 wide slot halogen free duct.
6) What color is the TY2X4WHW6 halogen free duct, and will it match existing white duct in a panel?
It is white. If the existing runs in your enclosure are white halogen-free duct of the same 2x4 wide slot profile, the TY2X4WHW6 will visually match; the 2.25 inch actual base width is what to check against the installed runs.
